FAQs
Grappling & Grace is a free, weekly wrestling fundamentals program hosted by Osage Hills Christian Church. The goal is to provide a safe, structured, Christ-centered environment where people can learn real wrestling skills, build discipline, grow in confidence, and develop healthy relationships.
This is not just a wrestling practice. It is a community outreach built around faith, mentorship, physical discipline, and personal growth.
This class is for the community. It is open to beginners, experienced wrestlers, families, students, and adults as appropriate to the class's safety structure.
Participants are not grouped only by age. Coaches group participants by experience, size, strength, maturity, and demonstrated control so everyone can learn safely.
No. Beginners are welcome.
Everyone starts with fundamentals such as stance, motion, movement, sprawls, breakfalls, basic takedowns, defense, and escapes. More advanced participants may be placed into higher-resistance drills or live wrestling only after coaches determine they can participate safely.
No. This is not currently a school team or competition team. It is a community wrestling class focused on fundamentals, discipline, mentorship, and spiritual formation.
The wrestling will be taught seriously and correctly, but the goal is bigger than competition. We want participants to grow as people, not just athletes.
The class is free to attend.
Donations are welcome but never required. Donations help provide mats, cleaning supplies, safety equipment, and future program growth. No one will be turned away because they cannot give.
The class will meet Thursdays from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Osage Hills Christian Church in the multi-purpose building.
The program currently has access to the full basketball court, which allows coaches to create separate training areas for fundamentals, intermediate drills, and advanced/live-approved participants.
Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows movement.
Recommended:
T-shirt or athletic shirt
Athletic shorts or sweatpants
Wrestling shoes if available
Clean socks or approved mat footwear
No jewelry
Trimmed fingernails
Participants should avoid clothing with zippers, buttons, or anything that could scratch a partner or damage mats.
Recommended items:
Water bottle
Athletic clothing
Wrestling shoes if available
Towel if needed
Completed waiver/registration paperwork
Do not bring weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco/vape products, or anything unsafe into the training environment
Yes. This is a Christ-centered community outreach hosted by Osage Hills Christian Church.
Each class includes prayer, Scripture, and a devotion. The devotion is not an afterthought. The goal is to connect what happens on the mat with real life, faith, discipline, humility, endurance, and self-control.
However, people do not have to be church members to attend. All are welcome!
The program is designed with safety and supervision in mind.
The class uses visible coaching areas, appropriate adult supervision, safety rules, participant grouping, and controlled progression. Minors must have a parent/guardian complete the required forms before participating.
Because wrestling is a contact activity, there is always some risk of injury. The program reduces risk through structure, rules, supervision, and safe training progression.
